The world through my eyes is mostly a bird’s-eye view while our plane hovers over Maui, making its way to Big island in Hawaii, where we went for a vacation few weeks back.
The word for this week’s photo challenge is Garden. Join it here.
These photos are from the Japanese and Botanical Gardens we visited in Portland a few years back.
Love is the theme for the Weekly Photo Challenge and here’s my interpretation:
There’s nothing more pure, soothing, unconditional, delightful, beautiful, magical, and surreal than a mother’s love. And you realize it more only when you become one. It’s a bond for lifetime and not a day, week, month or year.
“A mother’s love is patient and forgiving when all others are forsaking, it never fails or falters, even though the heart is breaking.” – Helen Rice
The Photo Challenge this week is looking for the interpretation of “Beyond”. Few years back we visited the Bryce National Park in Utah. With no preconceived notion about the park, we were pleasantly surprised to see the bright orange, red and white rock formations in all its glory. Needless to say, it was way beyond our expectations! :-) Here are a few pics:-
The theme for this week’s photo challenge is Illumination. I rummaged through my latest photo albums looking for photos and oddly enough the only pics I could come up with are either of Las Vegas or the holiday season.
Las Vegas is the city that comes alive at night and rightly labeled as the city that never sleeps. Even when you enter the casinos during broad daylight you’d be startled by the razzmatazz.
Here are few of them:
The Photo Challenge for this week by Sue has “Clouds” as the theme and I decided to post few of my related pics. There are from my phone driving locally and not necessarily looking for a shot to capture. Pretty random! :-)
As they say, every cloud has a silver lining.
The fight between the mighty sun and the clouds always make for a good shot.
And the clouds here and there!
Ailsa has posted “Multiples” as the theme for this week’s travel photos and have seen such an amazing collection posted by others. Here’s my selection. Although they are multiples of the same object but not necessarily fill the frame but I had so much finding these pics from various albums that I’m posting them anyways! :-)
1. This is the ceiling of the Bellagio Hotel lobby in Las Vegas.
2. Now this shot captures a lot of multiples – People, Christmas trees, Lights and ofcourse that beautiful decor on the ceiling.
3. Ornaments dangling from the roof in one of the hotels.
4. What are the odds that you have all these Zebras looking straight into the camera for a shot?
5. I like how some of these Flamingos manage to stand on just one leg and balance themselves quite well.
6. The snow. The trees. And the lights. Had to capture this view.
7. These windmills and many more are very close to our home and almost every time I capture them. And they always end up being a very different shot.
8. Flower beds.
9. San Francisco snapshot as seen from Golden Gate Bridge.
10. And last but not the least, one of the side views of the Las Vegas Strip.
Hope you enjoyed seeing the pics as much as I enjoyed posting them! Thanks, Ailsa for this fabulous theme that allowed me to get into my past albums. :-)
This summer we visited Yosemite National Park and witnessed waterfalls in all its glory. We were also in awe of the majestic mountains. Just posting a few pics of that trip for this Cee’s Fun Photo Challenge this week. Also, on one of our trips to San Francisco the flowers were on full bloom on the world’s most crooked street (Lombard Street). It was fun capturing the street and the flowers. Thought of including that as well.
The prompt for this week is about 2012 in pics. While there was traveling and hiking and star-gazing and doing absolutely nothing there are a few pics I’d love to post. Not necessarily they round off my year in 2012 but they’ve been a fun part.
Like the visit to the zoo, where I absolutely fell in love with this Giraffe.
We came up and close with the tiger there too.
Going to Las Vegas is like a routine every year but this time around for the first time we went to Flamingo Casino and spotted these beautiful Flamingos in their garden.
The side view of the strip from the Hotel we were staying in Las Vegas.
And of course since we live in Bay Area so going to San Francisco now and then is like a normal thing to do. And every time you go to Golden Gate Bridge you get a different shot altogether.
We were also in Dubai for a night transiting while on our way back to US after the vacation and got a chance to shoot the Burj Khalifa and Burj Al Arab.
Wrapped up the year, witnessing the beautiful sunset and pristine snow.
Surprise is the theme for this week’s Photo Challenge and this is what surprised me today:-
For a day forecasted with 80% chance of showers, we got lucky with sunshine for most of it. A pleasant surprise indeed. And I always love it when the mighty sun has to put up a fight with the clouds to coexist, especially during the cold, rainy winters. Keep up the fight, Sun! :-)
And for what’s it worth:-
Life itself is a lovely surprise
Full of memorable moments
With a few bumps here and there
If there’s any solace
It’s that in the end
It all works out
